Former Dolphins coach Adam Gase is apparently a hot property for NFL teams seeking to fill that position.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, within three hours after Miami fired Gase Monday morning, he had heard from the "majority of teams" with a head coach opening. Besides the Dolphins, seven other NFL teams are seeking a new coach: the Bengals, Broncos, Browns, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Jets and Packers.

The 40-year-old Gase posted a 23-25 record in three seasons in Miami. The team started this season 3-0, but stumbled to a 7-9 finish, likely sealing Gase's fate.

If Gase has already talked to four or more teams, he would seem a likely candidate for one of the open spots. Schefter said he's set to start interviews this week.

One interesting rumor: NFL Network's Mike Garafolo‏ reported that Broncos general manager John Elway, who played with Gase as his offensive coordinator in Denver, is lobbying Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to hire him.

The Miami Herald reported that Gase going to the Browns is "a very real possibility."
