Senior Bowl final stats, results, highlights: Spencer Rattler earns MVP in 2024 NFL Draft showcase image

With just Super Bowl 58 remaining in the NFL season, all but two teams already are have their eyes toward the future — namely, the 2024 NFL Draft.

One of the biggest events to watch ahead of the draft is the Senior Bowl, which capped a week of practice and preparation with its showcase game at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

Several players boosted their draft stock in a big way, while others saw theirs slide.

The strength of the quarterback class stood out, though many of the signal-callers were inconsistent through the week of practice. Expected first-round picks Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix participated in the festivities, but Michael Pratt of Tulane and Spencer Rattler of South Carolina shined the brightest.

On game day, Washington's Penix was among the roughly 30 opt-outs from the National team, as players from both teams elected not to play in the game despite participating in the preparation. With the absence of Penix, nearly all of the responsibility at quarterback fell to Notre Dame's Sam Hartman, who struggled through the air but had a few bright moments in the ground game.

Among the biggest standouts were Rattler, who earned the MVP award, as well as Rice wide receiver Luke McCaffrey, Mississippi State defender Nathaniel Watson, Missouri running back Cody Schrader and TCU running back Emani Bailey.

The Sporting News tracked live updates for the Senior Bowl. Follow below for the results and what you may have missed from the 2024 NFL Draft showcase.

Postgame

Former WSU defender Chau Smith-Wade is named National team player of the game.

Bo Nix takes time to sign postgame autographs.

Spencer Rattler is named MVP.

Final score: National 16, American 7

3:46 p.m.: Joshua Karty's 19-yard field goal is good.

3:45 p.m.: Chau Smith-Wade hit 18.3 mph on that interception return off of Milton, covering 162 yards total from start to finish on the play per Zebra Sports.

3:43 p.m.: Joe Milton is intercepted by former WSU DB Chau Smith-Wade, who comes up with an incredible 83-yard return, making several guys miss. Looked like he just ran out of gas there and a bad day for Milton gets worse.

3:41 p.m.: Milton uses his legs to lead the American team to its own 41-yard line after completing a 150-yard pass to former Georgia wideout Ladd McConkey. McConkey has been among the standouts throughout the week in Mobile after a successful career with a title-game winning Bulldogs team.

3:40 p.m.: The fourth quarter remains scoreless with the American team backed up in the end szone with just over 5 minutes remaining. They'll need Milton to lead a comeback drive in a game that has never truly slipped out of reach.

Current score: National 13, American 7

3:10 p.m.: Sam Hartman is nearly picked off by former Mississippi State defender Nathaniel Watson. The Bulldog product is having quite the Senior Bowl showing today, leading the defense with 5 total tackles (1 solo) and 1 PBU.

3:05 p.m.:  Austin McNamara punts the ball away 34 yards to the National 15-yard line after a scoreless drive for the American team.

3 p.m.: Joshua Karty's 52-yard field goal is good.

2:55 p.m.: Former South Alabama quarterback Carter Bradley opens with a wobbly pass in his home stadium that's nearly intercepted.

2:54 p.m.: It's been a low-coring, somewhat uneventful affair to this point. But practice week and media interview day were anything but that. Here's a look at some of the best of quotes.

2:50 p.m.: Joshua Karty's 37-yard field goal is good.

Halftime score: National 7, American 7

2:22 p.m.: Sam Hartman intercepted by former Louisville standout CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr. Hartman is now 2-for-10 passing for 21 yards with 1 interception at the half.

2:04 p.m.: Former Tulane QB Michael Pratt is now in the game. He opens with two consecutive incompletions as the National defense brings pressure.

1:59 p.m.: Former Vols QB Joe Milton was moving at 14.5 mph when he made the throw on that interception and former Oregon DB Evan Williams reached 18.17 mph on the same play, according to Zebra Sports.

1:52 p.m.: Just a very poor decision there by Joe Milton III. The former Vols signal-caller is picked off by former Oregon safety Evan Williams in the end zone. Milton's been largely unimpressive this week with multiple decision-making errors, ball placement issues and overthrows.

First quarter score: American 7, National 7

1:52 p.m.: Bo Nix connects with Brevyn Spann-Ford on the 2-yard touchdown pass and the National team is finally on the scoreboard. Both teams tied at 7-7 with just under 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter here in Hancock Whitney Stadium.

1:35 p.m.: Bo Nix connects with Brevyn Spann-Ford on the 2-yard touchdown pass and the National team is finally on the scoreboard. Both teams are tied at 7-7 with just under 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter here in Hancock Whitney Stadium.

1:25 p.m.: That's a nice 20-yard return there from former Rice Owls WR Luke McCaffrey, younger brother of Christian McCaffrey. He's had a nice week of practice in Mobile as a pass-catcher, but also a blocker on some plays.

1:15 p.m.: Spencer Rattler has looked every bit like the quarterback that was since touted as a No. 1 overall draft pick and a Heisman Trophy favorite. He connects with Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint for the 29-yard TD.

1:10 p.m.: Former Oklahoma/South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler is the first signal-caller to take the field today.

1:09 p.m.: The American team has won the toss and has elected to receive. They'll take the field on offense first to kick off the 2024 Senior Bowl.

Pregame: Multiple other National team players join the "not expected to play" list.

Pregame: For the National team, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will not take the field and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is expected to play sparingly. Former Notre Dame and Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman is expected to carry the bulk of the snaps.

Pregame: The following players are expected to not take the field for the National team in Saturday's Senior Bowl matchup.
