As New England prepares for Super Bowl 52, a member of three previous Patriots championship teams has landed a new NFL coaching job.

A source told Sporting News that Larry Izzo is being hired as Seattle’s new assistant special teams coach.

Izzo, 43, was a special teams standout during his 14 NFL seasons, eight of which were spent with the Patriots (2001-08). He branched into coaching shortly after his retirement, landing a spot as New York’s assistant special teams coach from 2011-15.

Izzo was hired as Houston’s special teams coach in 2016, but he was fired earlier this month after the unit had experienced two rough seasons under his watch.

Izzo replaces another former NFL linebacker in Heath Farwell, who left his post as Seattle’s assistant special teams coordinator for the same job with Carolina.
