Seahawks make the playoffs if ...

They win and the Lions win vs. the Packers. In this scenario, the Seahawks would be tied with the Lions at 9-8 while the Packers are a game behind both teams at 8-9. The Seahawks get in because they have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Lions because they won at Detroit in Week 4.

They win and the Lions tie the Packers. Here, the Seahawks would be 9-8 and both the Lions and Packers would be 8-8-1, giving the Seahawks the edge by a half-game over both teams.

They tie and the Lions tie the Packers. That would mean all three teams are 8-8-1. After applying the division tiebreaker to eliminate the Packers, it would be the Lions vs. the Seahawks again, giving the Seahawks the wild-card berth due to the head-to-head result.

Seahawks miss the playoffs if ...

They win and the Packers win. This would put the Seahawks and Packers at 9-8 with the Lions falling to 8-9. In that case, the Packers would win the conference-record tiebreaker over the Seahawks (7-5 vs. 6-6) to get in the playoffs.

They lose. The Seahawks would fall to 8-9, while the Lions would get into the playoffs at 8-8-1 or 9-8, or the Packers would get into the playoffs at 9-8.

Seahawks' updated playoff chances

The Seahawks should be considered about 70 percent favorites to beat the Rams to take care of half the equation on Sunday afternoon. But the Packers also are about 60 percent favorites to beat the Lions at home on Sunday night. Give the Seahawks a 30 percent chance to make the playoffs.
