Michael Bennett will have to wait a little longer before returning to the field.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week to repair cartilage and is expected to miss two to three weeks, ESPN reported Sunday.

On Friday, Bennett was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints in New Orleans after sitting out practice all week. It will be the first time since 2013 he has missed a game. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll revealed that Bennett's knee will be further looked at Monday and hinted surgery was a possibility.

Bennett initially suffered the injury in the team's Week 6 win over the Atlanta Falcons, though he played 81 snaps the following week in a 6-6 tie with the Arizona Cardinals. He recorded three sacks and a team-high four tackles for loss this season before getting hurt.

In total, the Seahawks will be without six players Sunday at the Superdome due to a rash of injuries.
