Raiders fans will be haunted by Ghosts of Christmas Past Saturday, as the Raiders and Steelers square off on the 50th anniversary of Franco Harris' Immaculate Reception.
LIVE: Follow Raiders vs. Steelers ‘Holiday Classic’
While the Raiders and Steelers have both disappointed to a degree this year, the two 6-8 squads won last week to keep their slim AFC playoff hopes afloat. The Steelers are also looking to avoid finishing below .500 for the first time in Mike Tomlin's tenure, but they'll have to win out to do so.
The Raiders must be wondering what they have to do to compete in the AFC West. The Chiefs are threats for the No. 1 seed in the division and despite disappointing years from both the Chargers and Broncos, they've largely been unable to capitalize after signing Derek Carr to an extension this offseason. Even after trading for Davante Adams, the team simply has been unable to find consistency this season.
The Steelers, meanwhile, had their continuity disrupted with Kenny Pickett's concussion. Even so, Mitch Trubisky was able to come in and do enough to beat the Panthers last week. As Pickett returns to the field this week, Pittsburgh will look to ride that momentum to another win over a longshot playoff hopeful.

Raiders fans, brace yourselves. You're going to see the Immaculate Reception a few times Saturday. However, if things break their way, Las Vegas could find itself being taken seriously in the AFC wild card race with a win. The same holds true for the Steelers. And with the tumultuous seasons these teams have had, that's a small victory in and of itself.
Who plays on Saturday night football tonight?
- Matchup: Raiders vs. Steelers
- Location: Acrisure Stadium
The Raiders and Steelers will square off in Acrisure Stadium on Saturday.
Acrisure Stadium is the new name of Heinz Field, which replaced Three Rivers Stadium, where the Immaculate Reception took place. One of the most famous and hotly contested plays in NFL history, it is a play that will undoubtedly come up a myriad of times on the broadcast. It isn't an accident this game was scheduled for when it was.
NFL fans will have this game to watch to cap off a nearly full day of NFL action on Christmas Eve, and it's expected to be a cold one. About 13 degrees, to be exact.
Josh McDaniels is trying to salvage what has been a tough first season in Las Vegas, as the Raiders try to stay alive in the AFC. It's been tough sledding to this point, but perhaps they can build on last week's miracle win against his former team the Patriots. The Steelers, meanwhile, have a whole host of issues to work out as well. However, it's nothing Tomlin hasn't seen before, so don't expect to see him lose his composure Saturday.
