The Vikings desperately needed a quarterback after Teddy Bridgewater went down with a gruesome knee injury at practice. They found their replacement — at a steep price.

Minnesota will send future first-round and fourth-round picks to the Eagles in exchange for Sam Bradford. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the deal.

In addition to the interest in Bradford, the Vikings also targeted Chiefs backup quarterback Nick Foles and some of the Ravens backup quarterbacks behind Joe Flacco, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. They ultimately landed on Bradford, who Pro Football Talk reports is "thrilled' by the trade.

Bradford fills an immediate need for the Vikings, a team in "Win Now" mode with the window on Adrian Peterson's prime closing fast. Still, it's a lot to give up for a player who has failed live up to the hype of being a No. 1 pick.

Philadelphia now turns to Chase Daniel under center with rookie Carson Wentz at No. 2 on the depth chart.
