Report: Seahawks soon to make Russell Wilson NFL's highest-paid QB image

After two Pro Bowl selections and (so far) one Super Bowl ring in three seasons, Russell Wilson is expected to become the NFL's highest-paid quarterback.

The Seahawks will sign Wilson to a long-term extension in the coming offseason reportedly worth even more than Aaron Rodgers' league high five-year, $110 million contract, according to NFL Network

Wilson, in the third season of his four-year rookie contract, made just $817,302 this season in salary and bonuses — a low number considering Wilson has the most regular-season wins by a quarterback in his first three seasons (36) than anyone in NFL history. For some perspective, Kobe Bryant makes more in three games than Wilson does all season.

Wilson's pending contract will put a huge dent in the Seahawks' salary cap that's expected to be near $20 million next season, but most of Seattle's stars are already locked up for the future. Only guard James Carpenter and defensive tackle Kevin Williams are true contributors who will be free agents next season.

Wilson and the Seahawks remain the favorites to win their second consecutive NFL championship. They face the Panthers on Saturday night in the divisional playoff round.
