Roger Goodell is arguably the most hated man in the NFL. But even if you think he is gutless, cold-hearted and only in it for the money, you should know that he isn't all that bad.

Over the summer, Goodell participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. With the NFL Combine taking place this weekend, Goodell decided to run a 40-yard dash in his office in New York City as part of a benefit for the hospital. He also might have drawn some inspiration from NFL Network host Rich Eisen, who has run the 40 at the Combine each of the past 10 years.

According to the hand-timed stopwatch in the video, Goodell — who will turn 56 on Thursday — ran a 5.53, almost a half-second better than Eisen's personal-best of 5.98 last year.

Goodell's time also was slightly better than that of Texans second-round pick Cyrus Kouandjio, who ran a 5.59 last year. Then again, Kouandjio is a 332-pound offensive tackle.

Nonetheless, it was an admirable effort by Goodell considering the environment.
