Richie Incognito is home and ready to hit the ground running.

In a text sent to the Associated Press on Thursday (AEST), the free-agent guard revealed he has returned to Arizona to resume training with the hope that he can get back on the field for his 12th NFL season.

While thanking those who have supported him, Incognito singled out former teammate Eric Wood after he was forced to retire due to a disc injury suffered last season. Incognito also recognized Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegul for signing him in 2015 and giving him the opportunity to play in Buffalo a second time after a failed stint in 2009.

Incognito has had an interesting offseason to say the least. The veteran announced in April he was firing his agent and retiring because he was too stressed, but changed his mind a week later before asking the Bills to release him from his contract.

He was then involved in an altercation at a Florida gym last month and spent three days on an involuntary psychiatric hold as a result. He had previously received treatment for mental health issues in 2014 after reportedly smashing his own car with a baseball bat.

Incognito, 34, started all 16 games for Buffalo last season.
