Report: NFL investigates Browns over sideline text image

Browns coach Mike Pettine has been questioned by the NFL about allegations that a high-ranking personnel member sent texts from the press box to the sidelines about play calls during a game, according to The Plain Dealer.

The report claims that a source said "coaches became upset when a high-ranking personnel member texted from the press box to the sidelines about play calls."

The NFL prohibits electronic communication during games.

"The investigators came in here, I spoke with them,'' Pettine said Thursday. "When that's resolved, I'll be in a better situation to speak on it.''

Reportedly, the texting situation added to Kyle Shanahan's discomfort with the organization and played a role in his eventual departure from the Browns. Reports also suggest that Shanahan was part of the tension between the front office and the coaching staff.
