Dallas Renegades offensive coordinator Hal Mumme was involved in a sideline incident Sunday during the team's game against the Houston Roughnecks. On Monday, the team confirmed he broke his leg on the play.

The play happened in the second quarter and was the result of friendly fire. Renegades running back Cameron Artis-Payne was pushed by a defender heading out of bounds, so he couldn't slow down his momentum. Mumme happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and his leg got caught up in the action.

Mumme tried to move out of the way, but couldn't quite get out of there quick enough.

Even though it was an obvious mistake, Artis-Payne was seen later hugging the coach as a way of saying sorry.

Mumme tweeted about the news saying simply, "I'm not soft."

The offensive coordinator stayed in the game to call plays from the sideline. But when the Renegades take on the New York Guardians this week, Mumme will be calling plays from the press box.
