Baltimore's rising.
The Ravens got back to basics on Sunday night, embracing a brutal form of football to pick up win No. 11 on the season, a 23-7 triumph over the Jaguars. It's Baltimore's most consequential victory to date; namely because it's the one that got them the golden ticket of playoff qualification.
The Ravens outpaced Jacksonville on the ground, showcasing ferocity and elegance while slaloming through the mountains. The Jaguars had no answer, caught in an endless stupor as Baltimore put them to the sword by way of a thousand cuts.
John Harbaugh's squad has gained a reputation as a pass-happy unit in recent weeks. Todd Monken's offense has taken Lamar Jackson to new heights, while a more complete receiving corps is making up for Mark Andrews' absence in a big way.
MORE: NFL world reacts to Lamar Jackson's ridiculous play vs. Jaguars
All that is well and good. But on Sunday, it was time to get back to the Ravens' bread and butter: the run game.
Jackson was the most prolific carrier. He picked up 97 yards on just 12 carries, whirling about like liquid in a closed fist when he got into the open field. He wasn't the only one, though. Keaton Mitchell, Justice Hill and Gus Edwards all embraced the funk while plodding their way up field. The proof was in the pudding: 43 carries for 251 rushing yards as a team on Sunday. More than 200 of that came in the second half alone.
The highlights weren't strictly limited to the floor. Jackson and Isaiah Likely connected on one of the most impressive plays of the year — a 26-yard pass-and-catch which stupefied even the most harden of spectator. But even that coup was made on the ballroom; Jackson had to waltz his way out of Dawuane Smoot's grasp twice before finding a leaping Likely.
Nevertheless, it was a comfortable day at the office for Charm City's crusaders. Jackson, who added 171 yards and a score on 14-of-24 passing through the air, reaffirmed his status as one of the league's preeminent MVP contenders.
Speaking of contending, it seems Baltimore is in prime position to do so. With a pass game flowing with confidence, a ground game that can strike fear into most front sevens and a defense that continues to blot some of the league's more talented hurlers, the sky could very well be the limit.

Ravens vs. Jaguars live updates, highlights from 'Sunday Night Football'
(All times Eastern)
End of fourth quarter: Ravens 23, Jaguars 7
11:20 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS! Lawrence's fourth down throw strays wide. He might've been shafted out of a few points after Calvin Ridley saw his score overturned. But the Jags just haven't been good enough so far. This game is on ice.
11:11 p.m.: Jaguars advancing down the field with increasing vigor. Whole lot of running from Lawrence; he's got 38 rushing yards on this drive. And he's got the Jaguars on the brink of a score with about 3:30 left.
11:05 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Tucker is bottoms from short-range. No surprises there.
Ravens 23, Jaguars 7
11:02 p.m.: FUMBLE! Lawrence tries to get rid of the ball as sack-master Justin Madubuike reels him in his grasp. The ball swirls and twirls along the surface before ending in Ravens hands. The turnovers continue to haunt Lawrence. Meanwhile, the Ravens should get yet another chance at adding to their lead.

10:56 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Tucker drills the chip shot. Was there ever any doubt? He's never missed inside of 30.
Ravens 20, Jaguars 7
10:53 p.m.: Edwards does it again, skating beyond the cathedrals that stood in front of him as the Ravens break the 200-yard mark on the ground. Baltimore is on the brink of another score.
10:51 p.m.: Monken adds a wrinkle to the attack, handing the ball to Jackson on the RPO and allowing him to make sparks fly in the open field. 15 yards with ease. Baltimore's run game is firing on all cylinders.
10:46 p.m.: Triumph turns to tragedy quick for the Ravens as Keaton Mitchell races through the hole to move the chains. Shortly thereafter, though, he crumbles to the turf, grasp his knee after being brought down violently. Does not look good at all.
10:37 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! All aboard the Gus Edwards train! The bruising back finds the teal oasis with a one-yard scamper at the goal line. Baltimore's lead is back at 10!

Ravens 17, Jaguars 7
End of third quarter: Ravens 10, Jaguars 7
10:33 p.m.: More heroics from Jackson and Likely! Jackson evades a would-be tackler before firing a prayer towards the goal line. Likely leaps, rising above two markers, and reels it in to set up Baltimore on the cusp of the promised land as the third quarter comes to a close!

10:28 p.m.: Special teams proves...spectacular. Jacksonville gets a big one from its specialists, pinning Baltimore in its own territory after an intentional grounding penalty had them punting the ball from inside its own end zone.
10:17 p.m.: Jackson turns opposition defenders into jelly, carving beyond his markers to (somehow) pick up the first down. He's like jelly in your hands when he gets a full head of steam.
10:12 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Jamal Agnew curls around the bend and finds open terrain. All Lawrence had to do was put it in his bread basket, and he would do the rest. A 65-yard touchdown — the longest of Lawrence's career — brings Jacksonville within a possession .
The speedy Jamal Agnew goes 65 yards for a TD!

Ravens 10, Jaguars 7
10:10 p.m.: Lawrence continues to fizz balls to his pass-catchers. Just found Jones on another short pattern as the Jaguars make their way up the field, slow and sweet. Looks like Doug Peterson has Jacksonville using the RPO more often to start the third quarter. It's been pretty effective thus far.
10:05 p.m.: Jacksonville dials up the zone blitz. And it proves profitable, with Jenkins crashing into Jackson behind the line of scrimmage to disrupt the Ravens' drive and hand the ball back to the Jags.
10:00 p.m.: Baltimore moves the chains after stringing together a trio of positive run plays. Not the worst start to the second half for the Ravens so far.
End of second quarter: Ravens 10, Jaguars 0
9:35 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Likely snags a Jackson whistler to secure the first touchdown of tonight's contest.
Ravens 10, Jaguars 0
9:21 p.m.: Like putty in hands, Jackson slips out away from contact and delivers another fired effort to the scurrying Bateman.
9:16 p.m.: FUMBLE! Lawrence follows up Jackson's turnover with one of his own. The Jags star just dropped the ball on the ground while attempting to pick up a few extra yards on the scramble effort. Arthur Maulet scoops it up and brings it 21 yards down before being brought down. The Ravens will start their next drive in fairly appealing position at their own 40.
A gift for the @Ravens' defense

9:14 p.m.: Lawrence finds Jones for an intermediate six-yard gain. The Jaguars are inside the red zone.
9:11 p.m.: The Jaguars needed two to move the chains on fourth down. They got 14. Calvin Ridley fools Kyle Hamilton before snagging Lawrence's arrow. Jacksonville's offense has looked solid despite failing to light the scoreboard thus far.
9:08 p.m.: INTERCEPTION! Jayshawn Jenkins plucks Jackson's pass to Nelson Agholor and carries it to the cusp of midfield, not only stopping Baltimore dead in its tracks, but setting up Lawrence and Co. with ideal field position.
Rayshawn Jenkins takes it away ‼️

9:04 p.m.: McManus' second effort goes...wide...again. Not the greatest of starts for the former Broncos kicker. Jacksonville leaving points on the board again. Not the greatest idea against Jackson and Co.
9:01 p.m.: The Jaguars are finding some life on offense. Lawerence just connected with Zay Jones to bring them over midfield. Just whittling away at this frightening Ravens defensive line.
End of first quarter: Ravens 3, Jaguars 0
8:55 p.m.: Travon Walker bursts through the mire and sends Jackson to the canvas as Jacksonville answers back by coaxing Baltimore into a three-and-out.
8:51 p.m.: Brandon McManus' 50-yard field goal attempt kisses the post, keeping the Ravens out in front.
8:48 p.m.: Lawrence and the Jags finally get The Big One! He floats an inch-perfect effort to Luke Farrell, who fields it in with aplomb and absorbs a big hit to get Jacksonville into Baltimore territory.
8:39 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Justin Tucker tickets the nylon with his 42-yard effort as the Ravens open their scoring account for the night.
Ravens 3, Jaguars 0
8:36 p.m.: Jackson floats into the secondary after erupting out of the pocket. Ends up taking the ball 11 yards down the field to bring Baltimore ever so close to the goal line.
8:32 p.m.: Jackson standing tall in the pocket on a trio of passes to start the game, two to Bashod Bateman, one to Isaiah Likely. Great start thus far for the Ravens, who are already deep in Jaguars territory.
8:28 p.m.: Jacksonville blinks first, booting the ball over to Baltimore after being stopped on third.
8:26 p.m.: Lawrence hits Travis Etienne with a flip pass. Etienne does the rest, slaloming past obstacles to move the chains for Jacksonville's first conversion on third down.
8:23 p.m.: Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars will lead the dance to start things.
8:15 p.m.: We've been waiting all day for Sunday night. I guess. Maybe? Either way, Ravens vs. Jaguars is slated to kick off any minute now. And it should be quite the showcase; Baltimore has a chance to punch its ticket to the postseason, while Jacksonville is hoping to snap its two-game losing slide.
7:50 p.m.: Here's a look at the inactive list for both sides ahead of tonight's clash. Newbie Malik Cunningham misses out for the Ravens, while second rounder Brenton Strange falls out of the lineup due to a foot ailment.
The following players will be inactive for the Jaguars in tonight's game:
— JaguarsPR (@JaguarsPR) December 17, 2023
5 S Andre Cisco
32 CB Tyson Campbell
56 OLB Yasir Abdullah
67 OL Chandler Brewer
85 TE Brenton Strange
90 DT Angelo Blackson
7:30 p.m.: Lamar Jackson returns to his home state of Florida for the fifth time in his career. He's hoping to enjoy a bit of home cooking. Given the effectiveness of Todd Monken's new offense, he very well could.
