Homophobic chants from Mexican sports fans have led to fines from FIFA during Mexican football federation matches.
So when the NFL came to town Monday night for a matchup between the Texans and Raiders, the predominantly Raiders crowd at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City stuck with their foolish tradition. Before each kick or punt the fans shouted "puto," a derogatory term used against gay men.

Despite ESPN's efforts to change the audio, the chant was picked up on the broadcast multiple times.
FIFA fined the Mexican football federation $30,600 for fans’ use of the chant in October. It was the fifth time in 11 months the governing body penalized the federation for the slur, according to ESPNFC.com .
