Pete Carroll: Richard Sherman might not need Tommy John surgery image

Richard Sherman might not need Tommy John surgery after all, despite previous statements that he would.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told Seattle radio station KIRO he "might have been misled" when he announced Monday that Sherman would need the surgery.

"He's not a pitcher, and he's not a left-hander. Sherm might not have to have that kind of surgery," Carroll said. "If he was a thrower he would."

Carroll didn't say what other alternatives there were for Sherman, who hurt his left elbow during the NFC Champtionship game on Jan. 18.

The Seahawks defeated the Packers 28-22 in overtime in that game. The victory punched their ticket to Super Bowl XLIX, where they lost to the Patriots 28-24.
