Panthers LB Thomas Davis receives key to city from Charlotte mayor image

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis received the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award from the NFL on Jan. 31. Charlotte's mayor presented Davis with the key to the city on Monday.

Mayor Dan Clodfelter did the ceremonial presentation during Monday night's city council meeting at city hall.

"The Key to the City is presented to an esteemed citizen and trusted friend of the city’s residents," Clodfelter said. "Through his foundation and other charitable acts, Mr. Davis has proven his commitment to empowering young Charlotteans as they pursue their dreams."

Davis was recognized for his work through the Thomas Davis Defending Dreams Foundation and Youth Leadership Academy and several students from the academy were present for the ceremony.
