Odell Beckham Jr. Giants will get deal done, team co-owner says image

Odell Beckham Jr. likely won't be leaving New York anytime soon.

While speaking with reporters Tuesday, Giants co-owner John Mara reiterated his feelings about the star wide receiver, saying he's eager to negotiate a multiyear contract to keep him with the organization for a long time.

"I hope so," Mara said, via the New York Post.

Beckham, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, has been linked to a number of trade rumors this offseason.

Although the Giants are taking their time reaching an agreement with Beckham, Mara insists the team has never considered getting rid of him.

"I wouldn’t say a sense of urgency," Mara said.

"The contract will get done when it’s supposed to get done. I think that’s the Dave Gettleman line. I’m gonna adopt that I think, all spring, all summer, as long as it takes.

"It's not the first contract negotiation we've ever had. It'll get done when it's supposed to get done."

Beckham has been present for voluntary offseason workouts despite still recovering from an ankle injury that kept him sidelined most of 2017.

The Giants struggled as they finished 3-13 last season, but the addition of Penn State running back Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall pick in last month's draft will help bolster the offense as would a healthy Beckham.
