Raiders move gets closer as Nevada approves $750 million for Las Vegas stadium image

The Oakland Raiders speculated move to Las Vegas just got one big endorsement. 

The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee unanimously approved a plan for $750 million in public funding for a stadium for the Raiders, according to multiple reports. The plan will now go to Governor Brian Sandoval and the state legislature.

Though the Raiders have not filed a request to move, they have filed trademark patterns for the name "Las Vegas Raiders" and owner Mark Davis met with billionaire Sheldon Adelson, the man who is pushing for the team to come to the desert, last week.

The team would need approval from 75 percent the league's owners to relocate. That could come as early as January 2017.

A move to Vegas would be the third time in franchise history it has changed cities after originiating in Oakland. The team played in Los Angeles for the better part of two decades prior to returning north following the 1994 NFL season.
