The Saints reportedly have a new cornerback, but it isn't Patrick Peterson.
The Giants are sending Eli Apple to New Orleans for a pair of draft picks, ESPN reported Tuesday, giving the Saints a needed boost in the secondary.
Saints traded a 4th-round pick in 2019 and a 7th in 2020 for former Giants’ CB Eli Apple, per source.

Much of the speculation around the Saints' search for cornerback help had focused on Peterson amid rumors he wants out in Arizona, but New Orleans didn't wait around for the Cardinals to move the former LSU star.
Instead, Apple gets a change of scenery after a sometimes-rocky stay in New York, where the Giants made him the 10th overall pick in the 2016 draft. The 23-year-old was suspended for the final game of last season by then-coach Ben McAdoo for "conduct detrimental to the team."
He has one interception in 30 NFL games.
