The Colts do not anticipate dealing Jacoby Brissett in the offseason.

The 25-year-old quarterback served as the backup to star Andrew Luck this season and attempted just four passes. But, Indianapolis general manager Chris Ballard told reporters Monday he wasn’t going to give Brissett “away” in a trade.

“It would take somebody doing something that would absolutely blow me away and it has to be the right thing for the kid, too,” Ballard said. “I’m not just sending him anywhere.”

Ballard said Brissett is a “special teammate” who provides valuable leadership in the locker room.

“He is well-respected,” Ballard said. “And I think the relationship between him and Andrew (Luck) has become very strong over time — and as you would expect in that quarterback room.”

Brissett was acquired by the Colts from the Patriots in September 2017 and started 15 games that season while Luck was sidelined with a shoulder injury. But, Brissett’s role was reduced after Luck returned to the field to start 2018.

The Colts finished this season with a 10-6 record and advanced to the AFC divisional round, where they fell to the Chiefs.
