New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton does not have an issue with the Los Angeles Rams' Marcus Peters.
Payton and the 26-year-old cornerback were involved in a notable exchange when New Orleans faced the Rams in early November.
Payton discussed Peters at his news conference on Wednesday ahead of the teams' NFC Championship game matchup this weekend.
"We came close to drafting him the year we took [offensive lineman] Andrus [Peat in 2015]," Payton said, via the Times-Picayune. "One of our goals going into that draft was Peat and Peters, and that's the truth. So, I have great respect for him, and it's all good."
Peters primarily covered Michael Thomas in the week nine game and the Saints wide receiver racked up 211 yards and a touchdown in his team's 45-35 victory. Payton said after the game the Saints liked the matchup between Peters and Thomas "a lot".
Peters responded to Payton's comments later that week.
"Tell Sean Payton to keep talking that s***," he said. "We're going to see him soon, you feel me? Because I like what he was saying on the sidelines, too. So, tell him to keep talking that s***, and I hope you see me soon. We're going to have a nice little bowl of gumbo together."
The Rams will face the Saints in New Orleans on Sunday.
