Jason Garrett isn’t planning to take over the Cowboys play-calling duties. At least, not “right now.”
Dallas dropped to 3-5 this season when it struggled again offensively in its 28-14 loss to the Titans on Monday. Garrett, the Cowboys coach, was asked one day after the game if he was considering replacing offensive coordinator Scott Linehan as the team’s play-caller.
"Right now," Garrett responded (via the Dallas Morning News), "Scott Linehan is going to call the plays on offense."
Garrett said he had a “tremendous amount of faith” in Linehan after Dallas’ season-opening 16-8 loss to the Panthers.
“We just have to do a better job collectively as a staff and as an offensive unit to help us move the football and score some points,” Garrett said at the time. “That starts with basic execution, play after play not beating ourselves and then finding ways to generate some big plays."
The Cowboys rank 29th in the NFL in total offense through Week 9 and have scored more than 20 points just twice this season.
