49ers quarterbackRichard Sherman is set to play his first game Saturday against the Colts since recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered last season while with the Seahawks.

The four-time Pro Bowl player made headlines this offseason getting beat, badly, by wide receiver Marquise Goodwin in practice which coach Kyle Shanahan turned into a teaching moment.

On Wednesday, Sherman addressed the media and the situation that made people question whether the 30-year-old could still put up the same numbers he did with the Seahawks.

“At the end of the day, we’re not concerned — or at least I’m not concerned — about the outside world,” Sherman said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “Oh, man, he got beat in practice. I’ve been beat a ton in practice. I’ve been beat probably thousands of times in practice.

“But the amount of times I’ve been beat on a Sunday with the lights on is very limited because in practice you are working. You are working your craft. You’re trying to figure out what you are going to do.”

Sherman penned a three year, $27.15 million contract with the 49ers in March 2018 after spending seven season with the Seahawks. He didn't miss a single game in Seattle until he torn his Achilles late last season. In 105 career games, he has 286 under his belt and 32 interceptions for 395 yards and two touchdowns.

The 49ers will open Week 1 on the road versus the Vikings on Sept. 9.
