The Cowboys lost running back DeMarco Murray to the Eagles on Thursday, but they hope to have found a viable replacement in Darren McFadden.

The former Arkansas star agreed to a two-year deal with Dallas on Friday. The deal will be finalized pending a physical, according to the Forth Worth Star-Telegram, and ESPN reports it will be worth up to $5.85 million.

The Raiders selected McFadden with the fourth overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft. A two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up at Arkansas (also the alma mater of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones), McFadden has shown flashes of greatness between multiple injuries.

The 27-year-old rushed for 534 yards and two touchdowns on 155 carries last year. He has 4,247 yards and 30 total touchdowns for his career, including rushing for 1,157 yards with 507 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2010.

The Cowboys probably aren't done at running back. The team could try to land Adrian Peterson, who is still under contract with the Vikings, or pick one of the talented backs in a deep draft class.

Earlier Friday, the Cowboys signed inside linebacker Jasper Brinkley to a two-year contract, according to ESPN. The 30-year-old had 54 tackles in 11 starts with the Vikings in 2014 after returning to the team following a one-year stint with the Cardinals.

With the return of Rolando McClain up in the air, Brinkley is the second linebacker the Cowboys have signed in free agency, joining Keith Rivers. The addition of Brinkley may allow the Cowboys to use Sean Lee at weakside linebacker as he returns from a torn ACL.
