Report: Seahawks, Browns came close to Harvin-Cameron trade last season image

This offseason has sent former Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin to Buffalo and former Browns tight end Jordan Cameron to Miami. But a new report claims they almost traded places last season.

When the Seahawks placed Harvin on the trade block last fall, they got a call from the Browns who offered Cameron in a one-for-one swap, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Seattle declined and wound up sending its embattled wide receiver to the Jets in exchange for what became a sixth-round pick in this year's draft.

Cameron, who played in only 10 games last season because of a concussion, created some drama this week. He reportedly agreed to re-sign with the Browns, only to back out at the last minute to sign with the Dolphins, who made him an identical offer.

Harvin signed with the Bills as a free agent last week.

In hindsight, considering the hypothetical situations involved in such a trade, there may have been some major repercussions this offseason.

Assuming both players would have re-signed, the Seahawks' need for a tight end would have been lessened. They gave up a first-round draft pick and starting center Max Unger last week in a blockbuster trade with the Saints for Jimmy Graham.

With Cameron in Seattle, maybe the time the Browns spent trying to re-sign him would have been put to better use in making a more serious run at Charles Clay or another free agent.
