As it turns out, Chris Canty and the Ravens needed each other.

Weeks after the defensive end was released by Baltimore, he returned to the fold when the team announced a two-year deal Wednesday. Financial terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed.

Canty, 32, had visited the Jets since becoming a free agent and was reportedly planning to meet with the Seahawks on Thursday.

The Ravens' front seven has undergone plenty of change this offseason, with Haloti Ngata traded to the Lions, Pernell McPhee signing with the Bears, and Terrence Cody and Lawrence Guy getting released.

Canty will provide value if he can stay healthy. He missed five games in 2014 but started the other 11 for Baltimore.

"We talked weeks ago about the possibility of Chris coming back," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said, "and we are happy he is."
