Report: Dan Quinn wants to coach Falcons image

As this year's coaching carousel continues to spin, the Falcons appear to be left out. Dan Quinn doesn't think so.

According to Dianna Russini of WRC-TV in Washington, Quinn aspires to be the next head coach in Atlanta.

Quinn, 44, is currently the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks. He wouldn't be able to join the Falcons until after Seattle's postseason run ends. That could be as late as Feb. 2, the day after Super Bowl XLIX.

The Falcons considered Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as a candidate for the job, but that ship appears to have sailed, as Bowles reportedly accepted the job as Jets head coach on Tuesday night. Bowles canceled a scheduled Wednesday second interview with the Falcons, according to The Associated Press.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Falcons are also interested in Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. Austin has a second interview with the Falcons this week, per La Canfora.

Quinn began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers as their defensive quality control coach in 2001. He was defensive line coach for the 49ers from 2003 to 2004, the Dolphins from 2005 to 2006, and the Jets from 2007 to 2008. Quinn joined the Seahawks in January 2009, served as the defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators from 2011 to 2012, then returned to the Seahawks on Jan. 17, 2013, to replace Gus Bradley, who took over as Jaguars head coach.
