NFL Betting Odds 2022: Chris Olave, Romeo Doubs among best bets to lead rookie WRs in receiving yards image

Chris Olave (L), Romeo Doubs (R)

With a full slate of preseason games set to kick off on Thursday night across the NFL, it is a great time to get familiar with some of the rookies in this year's draft. What better way than looking at some future odds on which rookie could have the most receiving yards this season.

This year's draft class does not have a ton of hype surrounding it, but it's well balanced and loaded with talent that will make some noise this season. Falcons wide receiver Drake London was the first of six WRs to be taken in the first round.

London will likely see a ton of targets, as the Falcons lack playmakers at the wide receiver spot. However, there are a few guys who were selected later in the draft (Romeo Doubs, Skyy Moore, and Jalen Tolbert), who will also make some plays for their respective teams and ultimately pay off bettors and fantasy football owners alike. Below, we’ll break down the top contenders and some of our favorite sleepers to lead all rookies in receiving yards.

Chris Olave, WR, Saints (+450). As we head into the first full week of preseason football, Olave is the favorite to lead all rookies in receiving yards. Olave enters a Saints' offense that has a ton of playmakers at the skill positions (Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Jarvis Landry, Marquez Callaway) and a quarterback in Jameis Winston who can throw the ball around the yard.

The former Ohio State standout is ranked No. 51 in our fantasy WR rankings and has a chance to produce right away. Olave had an outstanding senior season at Ohio State, where he had 65 receptions for 936 yards and 13 touchdowns. Olave is one of the more polished receivers in this year's class, as he has good hands and can stretch the field. With defenses having to worry about Thomas and Landry, Olave should have some favorable matchups this season.

However, keep an eye out for Drake London, who was the highest-ranked rookie wide receiver in our fantasy rankings (No. 44) and has the second-best odds at +550. The Falcons will be looking for a new No. 1 wide receiver this season, especially with Calvin Ridley being suspended for the entire year. London will have that chance, as defenses have to worry about second-year tight end Kyle Pitts, who is a mismatch nightmare.

NFL Betting Odds 2022: Sleepers to lead rookies in receiving yards

Romeo Doubs, WR, Packers (+1000). Doubs is getting close to being a betting favorite after the fanfare he's received in training camp thus far from Aaron Rodgers. Doubs was drafted in the fourth round by the Packers and wasn't expected to do much this season.

However, the 6-2 wideout has exceeded expectations, and he looks primed to have a role in a wide receiver unit that does not have Davante Adams. Doubs can stretch the field, which we saw him do over the last two years at Nevada where he averaged 15.6 yards per reception. He also had 20 receiving touchdowns and back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons over that period. At 10-1 odds, there is no better time to jump on this bet, as it will only improve after the first two preseason games.

Alec Pierce, WR, Colts (+1200). Another rookie wide receiver to keep an eye on is Pierce, who is making some noise at Colts' training camp and could emerge as the No. 2 wideout, alongside Michael Pittman Jr., Pierce was drafted in the second round out of Cincinnati and can be a playmaker out of the slot for the Colts this season. He's not afraid to go over the middle of the field and will get physical, which is what you like to see out of your receivers.

More sleepers to keep an eye on: Skyy Moore, WR, Chiefs (+1100); Christian Watson, WR, Packers (+1600); George Pickens, WR, Steelers (+2000).

NFL Betting Odds 2022: Long shots to lead rookies in receiving yards

Velus Jones Jr., WR, Bears (+3000). The Bears are another team this season that will be depending on a rookie wide receiver to produce . Jones Jr., who was drafted in the third round, will have a shot to be on the field often as the Bears' wide receiver unit isn't great.

Chicago's top-two receivers are Darnell Mooney and Byron Pringle. After those two guys, it's a battle of who can stand out more between Equanimeous St. Brown, N'Keal Harry, Dante Pettis Jr, and Jones Jr. Jones could easily beat out all those guys for the third wide receiver spot. The former Tennessee standout is more of a slot receiver, but he has the speed to take the top off the defense. Second-year quarterback Justin Fields will be looking Jones's way often this season.

Breece Hall, RB, Jets (+8000). We had to throw a running back in the mix, and why not Hall, who should be the feature back in New York this season. Hall had an excellent career at Iowa State, recording at least 1,400 yards on the ground and 41 rushing scores over the past two seasons. He was also a factor in the receiving game, but the Cyclones leaned on him as their primary ball carrier. Hall should get some touches in the Jets' passing game, which has added some talent to both wide receiver and tight end this offseason.

For Hall to lead all rookies in receiving, he'll need to do what Alvin Kamara did in his rookie season (2017), where he had 81 receptions (100 targets) for 826 yards. That's highly unlikely, but at 80-1 odds, it won't hurt you to sprinkle a couple of dollars on Hall, who will be one of the more sought-after rookie running backs in fantasy football.

More long shots to keep an eye on:  David Bell, WR, Browns (+3000); Wan'Dale Robinson, WR, Giants, (+4000); Tyquan Thornton, WR, Patriots (+5000)
