The best available quarterback on the free agent market will be re-signed on Tuesday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Sanchez will sign a two-year deal with the Eagles. The contract features a max value of $16 million and will guarantee the 28-year-old $5.5 million.

According to a report on Saturday, the two sides had mutual interest in signing a deal.

Sanchez threw for 2,418 yards, 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in nine appearances for the Eagles last season in place of the injured Nick Foles.

There has been speculation for much of the offseason over the likelihood of the Eagles trading up in the upcoming NFL Draft to select Oregon quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota.

The Eagles can’t completely control whether or not they can get Mariota, but signing Sanchez as insurance for their quarterback situation isn't the worst decision in the world.
