Patriots vs. Buccaneers stats

It came down to the final play, but the Patriots escaped Tampa with a 19-14 win over the Buccaneers on Thursday night. New England moved to 3-2 and Tom Brady tied Peyton Manning and Brett Farve for most regular-season wins by a quarterback with 186.

Brady offset throwing an interception and losing a fumble and getting hit all night by completing 30 of 40 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown.

A struggling Pats defense contained the Bucs, but New England would have lost had Jameis Winston's final pass, to O.J. Howard, been on target. Winston moved the ball 56 yards in the final minute to set up one last shot at a game-winning touchdown. Winston finished with 334 yards on 26-for-46 passing.

Tampa Bay got little help from kicker Nick Folk, who missed three field goal attempts.

Patriots vs. Buccaneers: Score, live updates

(All times Eastern)

Final: Patriots 19, Buccaneers 14

11:36 p.m. — Winston starts the final drive with a 24-yard pass to Jackson deep down the middle. He completes a 20-yarder to Humphries, who is pushed out of bounds at the New England 36. The Bucs have time for one last play and they need to go for the touchdown. The last pass, for Howard, is defended by Jones and that's it. The Patriots survive and win.

11:34 p.m. —  Field goal, Patriots. Gostkowski makes a 48-yarder to put New England up by five. The Bucs will get the ball with just over a minute left.

11:29 p.m. — The Bucs will attempt an onside kick here . . . and they are penalized for being offside. New England's Ebner recovers and the Pats will get the ball with 2:08 left.

11:24 p.m. — Touchdown, Bucaneers. A big conversion on third-and-long from Winston to Jackson brings the Bucs to the Pats' 18 with 2:15 remaining. Winston's 18-yard pass in double coverage is complete to Brate. Folk makes the PAT, and the score is 16-14.

11:15 p.m. — Folk misses his third field goal attempt of the night.

11:12 p.m. — Jackson breaks through the Pats' defense after a short pass and complete a gain of 41 yards. The Bucs started this drive inside their 10 and have moved downfield quickly. Winston's pass to Brate in the end zone is incomplete, bringing up second-and-goal. Winston scrambles for a touchdown on third down, but it's called back because of a penalty. He then throws incomplete to Evans. That brings out Folk again.

11:03 p.m. — This is the fourth straight 300-yard game for Brady and the 80th of his career. Are we sure he's 40 years old?

10:57 p.m.  — Tampa Bay's Nick Folk is 0 for 2 on field goal attempts. He misses his second one pretty far left.

End of third quarter: Patriots 16, Buccaneers 7

10:50 p.m. — Brady has been sacked three times tonight. This time, he is brought down by Glanton at the Tampa Bay 49-yard line. The Bucs recover the fumble as the third quarter winds down.

10:46 p.m — Bucs defensive lineman Gerald McCoy is briefly down; now he's on the sideline putting his helmet back on and looking ready to go back in.

10:40 p.m. — Amendola's catch is taken away because of another Pats penalty. Amendola is called for offensive pass interference. The Pats are called for an illegal shift later in the drive. It is their sixth offensive penalty of the night.

10:35 p.m — Winston's pass intended for Brate is denied by Chung, bringing up another fourth down for the Bucs.

10:27 p.m. — Field goal, Patriots. After 12 straight complete passes, Brady's streak ends with an incomplete pass to Amendola. New England gets a first down on penalty for illegal contact. After two more incompletions, the Patriots are forced to attempt another field goal. Gostkowski makes a 45-yarder to put the Pats up by nine points.

10 p.m. — Halftime: Patriots lead 13-7. Brady is 18 for 22 with 169 yards and one touchdown. Winston has completed 8 of 16 for 71 yards.

9:55 p.m. —  Field goal, Patriots. Gostkowski kicks a 23-yarder and New England takes a 13-7 lead.

9:48 p.m. — So, uh this just happened.

9:40 p.m. — Touchdown, Patriots. Brady, who isn't getting much help from his O-line, passes 6 yards to Chris Hogan with 3:42 left before halftime. New England is up 10-7.

9:30 p.m. — Touchdown, Buccaneers. Doug Martin 1 yard for the TD with 8:26 left before the half. Officials earlier gave Martin an 11-yard touchdown run before replay review overturned the call and determined his knee was down at the 1. Martin has seven carries for 55 yards and a touchdown so far.

End of first quarter: Patriots 3, Buccaneers 0

9:03 p.m. — Field goal, New England. DionLewis gets free for a 31-yard rush, the longest run of his career. The Patriots take advantage of the run and put the first points on the board with a Stephen Gostkowski field goal.

8:35 p.m. — Justin Evans intercepts Tom Brady on the Pats' opening drive.

8:30 p.m. — Those in Raymond James Stadium observe a moment of silence and shine their cell phone lights out of respect for the victims of Sunday's mass shooting in Las Vegas.

6:20 p.m. — The Patriots will be without tight end Rob Gronkowski.
