Momma always has your back.

Exhibit A: Muhammad Wilkerson vs. Jets beat reporter Manish Mehta

Wilkerson was released by the Jets last week, and after a report he would visit the Saints during free agency, Mehta chimed in and suggested the one-time Pro Bowl player has “issues with alcohol.”

MORE:

Mehta defended his tweet to WFAN's "Boomer & Gio” saying: "He has had issues with alcohol and drinking in the past. That doesn't necessarily mean you're an alcoholic. ... It's not personal. I just know how people in the building, people close to him in his life feel about him."

Wilkerson's mother, Ka'idah, didn’t appreciate Mehta’s take and called in to the show “livid” and defended her son.

“He goes out just like everybody else," she said. "Yes, he's been late. ... He's never had a DWI. He's never admitted to be an alcoholic. Do I think he has a problem with alcohol? No, I don't.

"He (Mehta) always has something negative to say about Muhammad. You called him a fat slob. You say he's out of shape. You said all these things. ... What's your problem with Muhammad?"

Muhammad Wilkerson, 28, had just three sacks in 2017 after registering 12 in his Pro Bowl season in 2015. He recently visited the Packers and will visit the Saints and Chiefs in the coming days.
