Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was listed as doubtful on the team's injury report on Wednesday, putting him in danger of missing the Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions.
Bears coach Matt Nagy had said that he was "cautiously optimistic" that Trubisky would play on Thursday, despite a shoulder injury suffered on a late hit in Chicago's 25-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings at the weekend.
But Trubisky reportedly woke up sore on Wednesday and with less movement in the shoulder than he expected, before the team listed their quarterback as "doubtful".
With such a short turnaround to the Bears' next game, backup Chase Daniel, 32, will likely get the start.
It would be the third start of Daniel's nine-season NFL career and his first since Week 17 of 2014, when he was with the Kansas City Chiefs. In almost four years since, he has thrown only three passes in the regular season.
Since Trubisky made his first NFL start in Week 5 of last season, he has not missed a game due to an injury. In a breakout second season, he has thrown for 2,469 yards and 20 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
