If and when the Chargers relocate to Los Angeles, head coach Mike McCoy reportedly won't be going with them.
The Chargers "are almost certain" to fire McCoy following the season, his fourth in San Diego, CBS Sports reported Saturday.
Such a move would be centered on the idea that the new locale would help to attract high-profile coaching candidates, the report said, and the Chargers "are willing to explore all options, including evaluating experienced winning former coaches."

On Friday, Chargers owner Dean Spanos met with San Diego mayor Kevin Faulconer and other city officials as a showing of good faith in their efforts to keep the franchise from a long-rumored move to Los Angeles. The Chargers simultaneously signed a lease agreement for office space in the L.A. area in anticipation of relocation.
Spanos has until Jan. 15 to exercise an option to join the Rams as partners in their planned Inglewood, Calif., stadium development.

McCoy, 44, has a 27-35 record in his first head coaching gig, including a lackluster 4-12 showing in 2015.
He arrived in San Diego in 2013 with a rising reputation as an offensive mind, but the Chargers have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball during his tenure. They were 5-9 heading into Saturday's game against the winless Browns, ensuring a second straight sub-.500 season.
