Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans could face a suspension for a blindside, out-of-play hit on Marshon Lattimore, but he was not ejected from Sunday's game.

After Lattimore and Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston got into it near the sideline, Evans ran over and flattened Lattimore. That started a fight on the Bucs sideline, with Evans in Lattimore's face on the ground.

Evans was flagged for the hit, a 15-yard penalty. Winston, who was out of the game due to an injured shoulder, wasn't penalized for taunting Lattimore. Winston aggravated a shoulder injury by when he was sacked earlier in the game.

It looked like Evans was ready to head to the locker room afterward ... until he learned he wasn't ejected.

Saints coach Sean Payton thought it warranted an ejection.

"If there's not an ejection in that situation then I don't know when there's supposed to be an ejection," Payton told reporters following the game.

Evans later apologized for the hit, calling it "unprofessional."
