Michael Barrett hasn't played in a regular season game in the NFL, yet he already is changing team colors.
Barrett, a seventh-round pick by the Panthers in the 2024 NFL Draft, was traded to the Seahawks on Thursday in a surprising preseason deal. It reunites the linebacker with Mike Macdonald, who worked with Barrett at Michigan in 2021 when the current Seattle head coach was the defensive coordinator for the Wolverines.
"Guys in Carolina spoke highly of him," Macdonald said. "Mike was very productive at Michigan obviously. We had a chance to evaluate him coming out [of college]. He was playing two years after we left to go back to Baltimore. Just excited to have him in here, and he’s got a great opportunity to come compete and earn himself a spot here for hopefully a while."
