Shortly after the 2020 NFL schedule was released on Thursday night, fans noticed something strange: The Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets will be playing each other in back-to-back games this season.
The AFC East rivals will face off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Nov. 15 for their Week 10 matchup. After each side has a bye, they face each other again on Nov. 29 at the Meadowlands.
It's an unusual occurrence that hasn't happened in the NFL in nearly 30 years. The last time it took place was in 1991, when the Chargers and Seahawks faced the same scenario with a bye week in between. They split those games.

Jets head coach Adam Gase, who also coached the Dolphins from 2016-18, spoke about the scheduling oddity on his team's official YouTube channel.
"I know anybody that's breaking down film for us is loving life," he said. "Not a whole bunch of additions going on there."
From when the Dolphins and Jets start game-planning for each other on Nov. 9 to when the teams meet for the second time on November 29, it will be almost three weeks of constant preparation for the same team. Safe to say they'll know each other pretty well by the time that second game is over.
