Melvin Gordon's hopes of hitting 1,000 yards this season could be cut short.
The San Diego Chargers running back was carted off the field during Sunday's game at the Carolina Panthers with a hip injury.

Gordon, who entered the game with 992 rushing yards, suffered the injury early in the first quarter when he attempted to recover a Philip Rivers fumble but was squeezed between Panthers defenders Thomas Davis and Star Lotulelei.
The Chargers ruled him out for the rest of the game.

The Panthers held a 3-0 lead over the Chargers at the time of Gordon's injury.
