Matthew Stafford trade rumors: Lions dealing QB to Rams for Jared Goff, picks, report says image

The Lions, it appears, have moved quickly to trade Matthew Stafford after agreeing to part ways with their longtime quarterback.

Detroit will deal Stafford to the Rams in exchange for quarterback Jared Goff, two future first-round draft picks and a third-round pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday night. The deal cannot become official until after the 2021 NFL league year starts in March.

Goff has been with the Rams since 2016, when he was selected as the No.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

The 26-year old took them to the Superbowl in 2019, where they fell to the New England Patriots.

Stafford has been with the Lions since 2009, where he too was selected as the No.1 pick in the Draft.

The 32-year old made the Pro Bowl in 2014, and fastest player to reach 20,000, 30,000, 40,000 and 45,000 career passing yards in NFL history.
