Former Seahawk confirms Marshawn Lynch considering retirement image

Marshawn Lynch doesn't talk to many people, but former Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson is one of those select few.

Robinson on ESPN 710 in Seattle on Friday said Lynch is indeed considering retirement this offseason, but he still expects the running back to play in the NFL in 2015.

"My bet would be that he plays next year in Seattle," Robinson said. "I don't think Marshawn knows yet. I don't know what the timeline is. It's probably going to be a feel thing and we'll just see like everybody else."

Lynch was reportedly working on a deal that would make him one of the top-paid running backs in the league, but that lucrative contract may not be enough to keep Beast Mode on the gridiron.

"Marshawn is getting to a point in his life where he may want to enjoy other things that are important to him," Robinson said. "I don't think (money) factors in too much, but obviously this is a business. With the running back position being so devalued, I think he wants to be paid like the heartbeat of the team, which he should be.

"He knows that he has the leverage. He knows that he's the best back in the league. He knows he's a difference-maker not only on the field but off the field."

Lynch, 28, is coming off a year in which he rushed for 1,306 yards and scored a career-high 17 total touchdowns. Robinson said Lynch will need time to let his body heal from a long season before he can make a decision about his future, but in the end, Robinson has no more of an idea about what goes on in Lynch's head than the rest of us.

"C'mon, man, it's Marshawn," Robinson said.
