Panthers coach Ron Rivera had no update Friday on star linebacker Luke Kuechly's condition, only confirming that he had entered the NFL's concussion protocol after leaving Thursday's game in tears.

However, Kuechly's fellow linebacker Thomas Davis tried to offer a relatively upbeat update for fans via social media earlier Friday.

IYER: What losing Kuechly means for Panthers

"Luke wanted me to let you guys know that he's doing fine and thanks for your prayers!!," Davis posted on Instagram.

In the accompanying selfie of the two, they were smiling, and Kuechly was offering a thumbs-up, though it's unclear whether the photo had been taken Friday morning.

As for Rivera, he said of the team's growing list of injuries, ""We'll find out what we're made out of."

Thursday's victory over the Saints — the Panthers' third win in four games — pushed the defending NFC champions to 4-6, two games back of the division-leading Falcons.

Carolina plays next on Nov. 27 at Oakland (7-2).
