Luke Kuechly is the latest victim of his team's ongoing concussion struggles this season.

An unidentified source confirmed to ESPN Sunday that the Carolina Panthers linebacker did indeed suffer a concussion in the team's Thursday night win over the New Orleans Saints.

IYER: What Kuechly's injury means for Panthers

Kuechly might travel to Pittsburgh this week to visit concussion specialist Dr. Micky Collins, get a second opinion and weigh his options going forward, according to the report.

Kuechly took a seemingly light hit to the head Thursday but was carted away in tears after he was unable to walk off the field on his own. Ron Rivera announced Friday that Kuechly was in the concussion protocol, but the Panthers coach did not specify the extent of the injury. The latest concussion would be Kuechly's second in the last two seasons.

Kuechly was, however, all smiles later Friday in an uplifting Instagram post by teammate Thomas Davis that was captioned, "Luke wanted me to let you guys know that he’s doing fine and thanks for your prayers!!"

Concussions have put a strain on Carolina this season, as the team was without quarterback Cam Newton in Week 6 and has missed left tackle Michael Oher the last seven games.

Considering the uncertainty surrounding head injuries, it is uncertain if Kuechly will be cleared to play in time for the Panthers' next game at the Oakland Raiders next Sunday.
