LaGarrette Blount's arrest last August for possession of marijuana will result in a one-game suspension for the Patriots running back.

The NFL announced Blount will miss the 2015 season opener for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

While a member of the Steelers, Blount and then-teammate Le'Veon Bell were stopped by police, who found marijuana in Bell's vehicle. The possession charges were later dropped after Blount completed 50 hours of community service

Bell, who ran for 1,361 yards last year, could also be facing a suspension.

Blount was released by the Steelers on Nov. 18 and signed with the Patriots on Nov. 20. He ran for 281 yards and three scores in five games with the Patriots. He ran for 148 yards and three touchdowns in the AFC championship game, helping the Patriots get to the Super Bowl.

Blount will be eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices, but will have to be away from the facility following New England's final preseason game and won't be allowed to return until after the regular-season opener.
