Patriots argue Jim McNally was 'The Deflator' because he's fat image

Greetings, true (non?) believers. Thanks to the Patriots' lawyers' lengthy rebuttal to the even lengthier Wells Report, we learned that "The Deflator" had nothing to do with "Defategate."

The team's attorneys argue, that the self-given nickname of Jim McNally, the now infamous locker-room attendant, came from the fact he's fat.

In the rebuttal, McNally is described as a "big guy" whose weight was much inflated in relation to "slender" fellow Patriots employee John Jastremski.

The term was first used in reference to text messages exchanged by the two men. According to the Patriots' lawyers, Wells investigators failed by not asking McNally elaborate on "Deflator" when interviewing him.

"Had they done so, they would have learned from either gentleman one of the ways they used the deflation/deflator term,” they argued. “‘Deflate’ was a term they used to refer to losing weight.”

Got it. It was all about BMI, not PSI. It still sounds like more like defiant hot air, or the worst supervillain origin story ever.
