Jayson Werth's success in two rehab games with Single-A Potomac on Saturday could have him gearing up to join the Nationals in Boston on Monday.

Werth went 1 for 2 with a solo home run in the first game of a doubleheader, and 0 for 2 with a walk and strikeout in the second game.

“He came out of the first game great and he feels good about it,” manager Matt Williams said, via The Washington Post, before Werth finished the second game. “Those are all positive signs. Good news. He’s starting to get in the flow of games. We’re excited about that.”

Werth, who has been recovering from a January surgery on his right shoulder, isn't scheduled to play Sunday. Williams said that if Werth's Sunday workouts go well and he isn't in pain from Saturday's doubleheader, he could come off the disabled list and join the team for its three-game series against the Red Sox. If not, he will play another rehab game.

“There’s a possibility [he returns] for Monday,” Williams said. “I wouldn’t say for sure yet. We have to see how he feels [Sunday] coming out of it.”
