Pit bull bite sends Jadeveon Clowney to ER, report says image

After a rookie season in which he was snake-bitten by injuries, Jadeveon Clowney is starting off his second year in the NFL with a literal bite.

The Texans defensive end was bitten by teammate D.J. Swearinger's pit bull last week, according to SportsRadio 610 in Houston, and his injury required attention from a local emergency room.

Police records show Clowney’s right arm was bitten by the dog. The bite did break the skin, and the dog had been vaccinated, according to the report. Swearinger’s dog was issued a standard quarantine by the Pearland police department.

"Animal control handled it as a standard call," Lt. Patrick Savage told CBS Houston. "Standard procedures were followed by our humane department and the animal control officer who went out there."

Swearinger also played with Clowney at South Carolina. The Texans safety made headlines last week when a Houston-area car detailer accused him of not paying for over $20,000 worth of upgrades.

The first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Clowney was limited to four games in his rookie season as he suffered a laundry list of injuries, experiencing a concussion and undergoing surgery for a hernia and microfracture surgery on his knee.
