Giants' Nate Solder says there is 'tremendous' pressure to fix offensive line image

Nate Solder has a long way to go until his new team catches up to the Patriot Way.

During a recent interview with WFAN radio, the left tackle said he's up for the challenge of helping the Giants fix their offensive woes, but acknowledged it will take more than just his efforts to enact change.

“There’s a tremendous amount of pressure and I’ve been under a tremendous amount of pressure for years now,” Solder said. “You can only take it one bite at a time. You go one day better. It’s not going to be one person that is going to fix everything. It’s going to be a group effort. We got to win as a team and do the best we can every single day.”

Solder, who spent the first seven seasons of his career in New England, became the highest-paid offensive lineman in the league when he signed a four-year contract worth $62 million with New York in March. The Giants also added guards Patrick Omameh and Will Hernandez this offseason, giving the team the boost they need to revamp their offense.

"I stepped into a solidified system," Solder added. "People have been a part of that program for a long time and they kind of just taught me the way. And when I came here, it's new coaches, a lot of different players from all over the place...so really just trying to kind of find our identity, and trying to define what that is rather than just be set in stone of what it was.

"I have full confidence that Coach Shurmur and all the coaches know what they're doing. I'm just following their lead and trying to do the best I can."

Solder, 30, was selected by the Patriots with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
