Giants GM dismisses Odell Beckham Jr.'s 'two torn hamstrings' story image

Following the Pro Bowl, Odell Beckham Jr. said he played his entire rookie season with two tears in his right hamstring. He claimed that the injuries kept him out of training camp, preseason and the first five weeks of the regular season.

However, New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese isn't convinced his star wide receiver played through those injuries.

"I don't know about that," Reese said during his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine, via Newsday. "I think he's trying to be a hero. I don't think you can play with two [tears in your] hamstring and run fast like that."

Reese insisted that if Beckham did have two tears in his hamstring, he would not have played in the Pro Bowl.

"I think our doctors would have caught that," Reese said. "According to our doctors, it was healed up. He may have gotten fatigued later in the season, but yeah, I don't think you can go out and run like that if you have" tears in your hamstring.

Beckham's hamstring issues began last spring when he injured it at the first day of training camp, then again when he tried to return. Despite his injuries, Beckham had 91 catches for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 games en route to being the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year. And let's not forget his remarkable one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys.
