Nelson Agholor actually cares about catching footballs, apologizes for 'drops' comments image

Two days after his coach said he was disappointed in him, Nelson Agholor issued a mea culpa on Wednesday.

The Philadelphia Eagles receiver said he was sorry for his postgame comments when he said he didn't care about the four drops he had in Sunday's 29-23 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

"I apologize for that," Agholor told reporters Wednesday, via Philly.com. "I don’t want that to be the case, especially to the teammates I have in this locker room because I don’t want them to ever think my missed plays or missed opportunities aided a loss. They all do. That’s why you want to limit those.

"As a professional, it’s something that aid a loss. Those plays, obviously, they didn’t help us. At the end of the day, we lost and that contributed to that. It was a very emotional game. My mind and my heart was solely on winning that football. And when you do lose, I understand that every little thing is under a microscope. I have to respect that."

When asked after the game about his drops and leaving plays on the field, the second-year receiver from USC said the miscues weren't that big of a deal. His first-quarter drop forced the Eagles to kick a field goal instead of having first-and-goal in a game that was ultimately tied at the end of regulation.

"I don't give a damn, man, that s— is nothing," Agholor said Sunday. "You just have to make the next one. Everybody runs routes. Sometimes they are contested. Sometimes you drop them. If you make as many as you possibly can that come your way, you'll put yourself in a good position.

"No one is perfect. I don't look at no drops, or that type of s—. I'm tired of hearing that s—. It's just stupid."

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Monday he was "disappointed in those type of comments."

"I think each individual has to be responsible for their own job, obviously. We've got to make good, smart choices," Pederson said during his Monday press conference. "Everybody is mad and disappointed and angry after tough losses like we just came through, and cooler heads prevail. We just have to bite our lip sometimes and just suck it up and get to work. And that's what we've got to do this week."

It would appear Agholor got the message.
