The Dolphins released veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola, the team announced Friday.

Amendola played just one season with Miami after he joined the team as an unrestricted free agent in March 2018.

According to an NFL Network report, there were numerous discussions with the two-time Super Bowl champion and his agent to try and keep him in Miami but the parties ultimately decided to part ways.

Amendola started 15 games for the Dolphins and caught 59 passes for 575 yards and one touchdown. He also completed a 28-yard touchdown pass.

It was Amendola's fifth stop since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Dallas in April 2008. After landing on both the Cowboys and Eagles practice squads, he spent four seasons with the then-St. Louis Rams before joining the Patriots in 2013.

Amendola won both Super Bowls with New England.
