Dolphins' Raekwon McMillan: Ref told me to 'stay off' Tom Brady after a legal hit image

Raekwon McMillan knew tackling Tom Brady would be tough, but he didn't think legal hits were off limits, too.

The Dolphins linebacker told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald a referee advised him to "stay off Tom" after his legal hit during Sunday's 43-0 loss to the Patriots.

"Tom didn’t say anything but the referee said, ‘Stay off Tom.’ I put my hands up in the air and said ‘I got you,’" McMillan said.

McMillan added that he wishes he had a photo of the moment.

"I’m still looking for pictures from the hit so I can hang it up and show my kids some day," he said.

Luckily for McMillan, there is video.

It seems the NFL is looking to protect the remaining quarterbacks amid several early season injuries, some season-ending. Given the noncompetitive nature of Week 2 game in Miami, the officials didn't appear willing to take a risk.
